4 Stars from RT Magazine ~ There is romance, mystery, intrigue, suspense and much more in Ludwig's first Edge of Freedom novel. The characters are strong, both in mind and spirit, which was a must for people straight off Ellis Island in the late 1800's. The author did her research well for this book.

Booklist Reviews ~ No Safe Harbor by Elizabeth Ludwig. As she steps off the boat at Ellis Island in the opener to Ludwig’s new Edge of Freedom series, Irish lass Cara Hamilton beckons readers to join her as she searches for her brother, Eoghan, whom she had once believed to be dead. In keeping with the social climate in New York at the turn of the twentieth century, Cara confronts the hardships associated with being a young, unchaperoned Irish woman as she attempts to find her place. When a seemingly trustworthy countryman named Rourke befriends her, Cara is guarded but eventually reveals the truth about her immigration. An evolving series of twists and turns uncovers the truth about her brother, and about Rourke, forcing Cara to make hard decisions to save those she loves. Praised for her past works of historical fiction, Texas-based Christian-fiction-author Ludwig keeps readers on the edge of their seats in this suspenseful romance, interlaced with period detail, as desperation to find her family takes Cara down a hazardous road to loved ones lost and found.

Ludwig weaves tales that do more than simply entertain, Ane Mulligan, V.P./Sr. Editor, Novel Rocket ~ I love the way Elizabeth Ludwig brings historical passion to the pages of her books. I always learn besides enjoying a good read. The Irish played a large part in American history, but Ludwig makes it feel personal, like I know these characters and was invested in their lives. I know she will continue to charm her readers and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Window to My World ~ Elizabeth Ludwig has taken an Irish group – the Fenians – and built a story of intrigue and suspense in the framework of Ellis Island in 1897. I had no idea such a group existed, and my curiosity was piqued. This story is built carefully and accurately, and the elements of human prejudice and its war against faith is told in living color by a host of unique characters. I am happy to recommend this story to you! It will keep you reading long after light’s out! READ MORE

Reaches Out and Grabs Your Heartstrings ~ Elizabeth Ludwig brings readers to 1890's America where Irish immigrant, Cara Hamilton, is alone in America and searching for the only bit of hope life has left her. No Safe Harbor is a historical fiction romance full of suspense, secrets, and mystery.

A page turner ~ Step back in time and get a glimpse of life for the immigrant Irish in New York. No Safe Harbor, by Elizabeth Ludwig begins with the historical setting of Ellis Island in the year of 1897. The heroine, Cara Hamilton finds she is all alone when she reaches America and her brother doesn’t come for her.

No Short of Impressed ~ This novel came out of nowhere and completely enthralled me. A rich historical with tension abounding in heritage, setting and characters. The romance was forbidden and absolutely perfect. I loved the richness of the Irish culture, how their prejudice crossed the ocean to America with them and produced more than a little bit of fodder for today's modern authors.
